The Burnaby Art Gallery is pleased to present 'Commercially Viable', a selection of artworks designed for commercial use from the digital sketch book of Victoria artist, Ken Faulks. For this exhibition, Faulks has selected sixty artworks that he feels best represent his commercial work. Some of these works are actual commissions, in use by Victoria and environs businesses, while others were created as a way to expand the artist’s digital portfolio.
Faulks, who is best known for his skillfully-handled plein air oil paintings, created this entire exhibit on his computer using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Corel Painter. The exhibition was then delivered to the gallery via digital files. Faulks’s illustration and design projects have included both interior and exterior murals, logos, illustrated posters, cards, book covers, children's books, cartoon characters, technical drawings, product illustration, and website design.
